Encik Abu Bakar Abdul Karim 59, is the Chairman of Gunung Group. His vast experience both in the private & public sector has steered the growth of Gunung Group. He served with the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Ministers Dept. for more than 20 years specializing in policy development & macro economic strategies.

Following his resignation from EPU as its Deputy Director General in 1989 he joined Malaysian International Merchant Banker as the Chief Executive. He was in 1994 appointed the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) a post which he held untill 1996.

Encik Ali Ariffin, 49, is the Executive Vice Chairman of Gunung Group of companies which include Gunung Fiber Optik Sdn Bhd. He is a Chartered Accountant by profession haivng been admitted as a member by the Malaysian Institute od Accountant in 1982.

Encik Ali has vast experience in the Cable Industry having started his career in Telekom Malaysia in 1978 as a Financial Controller. He was seconded to the Registrar of Companies as a Senior Accountant in 1981. In 1982 Encik Ali joined AKZ Holding Sdn Bhd a Telecommunication Services & Manufacturing concern as Director/Vice President. He played a role in securing turnkey projects worth RM 636 M from Telekom Malaysia in 1983. He also played a role in the implementation of Kilatcom Radio Paging services in 1985.

Encik Ali was appointed as MD of MRCB Telecommunications Sdn Bhd a subsidiary of MRBC in 1993. He spearheaded the setting up of the PCN(Personal Communication Network) which was awarded a license in 1994 by the Ministry of Energy Telecommuniication & Post to operate EMARTEL. a Digital Mobile Service.

In 1996 Encik Ali become a director of Gunung Kabel Sdn Bhd and later made the Executive Vice Chairman.

Encik Harun Hashim, 53, is the Executive Director of Gunung Fiber Optik Sdn Bhd. He started his career as an administrative Officer with the Ministry of Agriculture. Between 1974 until mid 1993 he served various positions at the Economic-Planning Unit (EPU). In mid 1993 he joined Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB) as General Manager for Human Resource & Entrepreneur Development. Following his resignation from PUNB in 1995 he joined the MRCB group.

Encik Ahmad Azwan Abu Bakar 30, joined the senior management team as the MD of Gunung Fiber Optik Sdn Bhd in June 2001. He holds a Bsc (Hons) Accounting & Management System from University of Hertfordshire UK and a PostGraduate Certificatein Business Admin from University of Staffordshire.

Prior to joining Gunung Fiber Optik Sdn Bhd he was attached to Malakoff Berhad as Senior Executive in the Corporate Finance & Risk Management Department.

Mr. Osman Bayraktar, 50, represents GFO JV partner from Turkey. By profession he is an engineer and is the General Manager of Hesfibel Fiber Optic & Electronics Co in Turkey. He has vast experience in the cable industry as he started his career as an engineer 30 years ago in cable manufacturing.

Mr. Guven Togan, 37, also represents GFO JV partner form Turkey. He is by profession an engineer and has worked in many parts of the world representing Hesfibel Fiber Optic, Turkey. He was instrumental in the transfer of technology to GFO. He was the Technical Coordinator of GFO from 1998 & was made the Chief Operating Officer in 2000 and remains so until he left in 2001.

Encik Ahmad 32 holds a Bachelor of Sc. Degree from the University of Wisconsin, USA. He was one of the pioneers of GFO joining the organization in 1997 from Motorola, Seremban.

His experience as a Section Head at Motorola has greatly contributed to growth of GFO. He was instrumental in establishing the QA Dept. emphasizing on high standard of quality for GFO products. His ability to lead and dynamism shown has given the management the trust for him to lead the Head & Marketing Dept. Through his effort the organization has aggressively ventured into overseas market.

Encik Ahmad was given the Chief Operation Officer task in 2001. He is instrumental in coordinating and synchronizing all the Dept. aim at achieving Company goals and objectives.
